How to Repair Cat Scratches on Vinyl Furniture

Cat claws are sharp, and when they come into contact with your vinyl furniture, the results can be disastrous. Most vinyl furniture has a protective coating on it, but even that isn̵7;t enough to protect the furniture from claws that can be as sharp as knives. You can repair cat scratches on vinyl furniture with a few supplies and a bit of effort.

Instructions

    • 1

Clean the furniture with rubbing alcohol. Apply the alcohol to a soft cloth, and clean inside and around the edges of the scratch.

    • 2

Mix the resin and catalyst included in the vinyl repair kit according to the instructions that come with the kit. Mix them in a bowl using the spatula applicator provided with the kit. It should make a creamy paste.

    • 3

Apply the vinyl repair mix you made in Step 2 to the scratch, using the spatula applicator. Spread the mix the entire length of the scratch with the spatula. Allow 24 hours for the vinyl repair mixture to set.

    • 4

Trim away any extra repair material with the edge of the spatula applicator. Lift the extra material off the furniture with your fingers. Be careful that you don̵7;t poke through the vinyl furniture with the spatula.

Use a fine 1500-grit sandpaper to give the vinyl repair a smooth finish so that it blends in with the rest of the furniture.
