How to Get Cat Urine Out of Luggage

Cats bring companionship, entertainment and love into our lives. However, with that love can come frustration and headaches. Cats are bound to have an accident now and again. When they have an accident on your luggage, you may want to throw Mr. Kitty outside. Cat urine is a strong, offensive smell that can attach itself to items, and never let go. Before banishing your sweet, fuzzy friend outside, try a few common household cleaners to remove the odor.

Instructions

    • 1

Soak up the urine with old towels or rags. If the cat urine is fresh, soak up as much of the urine as possible.

    • 2

Mix three parts water with one part vinegar in a bowl, and saturate the area on the luggage. Let it dry completely. You can use an old rag to blot up the water-vinegar mixture to speed up the drying time.

    • 3

Sprinkle baking soda on the area in your luggage until it's well-covered.

    • 4

Mix 3/4 cup of 3 percent hydrogen peroxide with 1 tsp. of any dishwashing liquid in a bowl until well-blended. You can find hydrogen peroxide in the health and beauty section of your local department store.

    • 5

Sprinkle the mixture of hydrogen peroxide and dishwashing liquid on top of the baking soda. Using a brush (old hairbrush, toothbrush or cleaning brush), work the mixture into the pores of the luggage. Allow it to dry completely.

    • 6

Vacuum up the mixture with a hand attachment. If there's still a slight odor, repeat the steps.
