Take a sample of your soil and consult a lawn expert. Tell the expert you need to run a pH test to determine how much lime to use on your yard. Lime will neutralize the smell of the urine while simultaneously neutralizing the harmful acidity of the urine.

Locate the section of the outdoor area where the urine is concentrated. You can do this most easily at night using a UV light. Urea crystals in urine will show up as dull, yellow blotches.

Scoop out the advised amount of lime using the trowel and place it on the soil where the urine is located.

Hose the area down to hydrate the lime, thereby activating it.
