Don't let the cat into your bedroom. Cats may look small and harmless, but allowing one to sleep on your bed, or even in the same bedroom, can make the symptoms worse.

    • 2

Wash or clean your bedding and couch cover a couple of times each month if the cat spends a lot of time sitting on them.

    • 3

Vacuum the house twice each week to erase any traces of your cat's allergen.

    • 4

Use Allerpet when washing your cat to decrease the amount of cat allergens in the air. Allerpet is a liquid that destroys dust mites. Dust mites are the No. 1 cause of allergies.

    • 5

Wash your hands every time you pet a cat and never touch your face after petting one.
