- Water
- Litter box
- Cat toy
Instructions
Dim the lights in the room and turn off any televisions or radios. The dim lights and quiet help comfort the kitten.
Place a trail of cat treats under the bed and out into the open room. Quietly move away from the bed and let the kitten explore the treats on its own.
Sit on the floor across from the bed. Do not make any sudden moves or loud noises. You want the kitten to feel comfortable and not anxious. Call the kitten in a soothing, quiet voice.
Coax the kitten out from under the bed by dangling a toy at the front of the bed or by running it across the floor underneath the bed.
Leave the kitten alone. Keep other people out of the room. Put food and water down in the middle of the room. Place a litter box in the room, as well. Periodically check on the kitten. Look for specific times that the kitten comes out from under the bed for food.
Continue periodically checking on the kitten. After a few days, act like you enter and leave the room around feeding time so the kitten thinks it is alone. Sit in the corner of the room with cat treats. When the kitten comes out, let it eat. Place your hand in front of you on the floor. Place a treat in your hand. Do not make sudden moves. Let the kitten come to you.
