Instructions
Place food and water outside each day for the cat to eat. Do this in view of the cat so that it knows from where the food is coming.
Move cautiously around the cat, and avoid sudden movements so that you don't frighten it.
Talk to the cat from a distance with a soothing voice each day so that it can grow accustomed to your voice.
Move slowly if approached by the cat and avoid making loud noises, or it may run away.
Be patient. With exposure, it will become more likely to build trust with you and approach you.
Pet the cat if it approaches you, but do not force it to stay with you. Offer treats and coax it closer and closer to your home, eventually trying to get it to come inside.
How to Tame a Semi-Wild Cat
Feral cats live outdoors in many locations and often live nearby houses, living off garbage and food waste. If you see a feral cat and wish to adopt it, it will take time and patience. Wild cats can be tamed, but first you must teach them to trust you and coax them close enough for you to handle. With time, the feral cat will learn what to expect from you and may even begin to enter your home.
