Instructions
Rub your cat's head with your fingers. Notice how he starts rubbing his head around your arm and maybe even your body. While the rubbing does feel nice to him, he is actually using the scent glands on his face to mark you.
Watch your cat's tail if he's been spraying around the house. Whenever he is planning on spraying, he'll back against the wall and turn his tail upward. If this behavior bothers you, consider having the cat spayed to prevent further spraying.
Observe your cat's posture if he is showing aggressive behavior. Cats always give a warning before acting aggressively. If you notice your cat always lowering his head and flattening his ears at something in your house, chances are that the object is making him feel threatened and he is being interrupted in mid-behavior. This interruption results in aggressive behavior aimed at something else.
Watch a disobedient male cat's tail for signs that he is rejecting your instructions. If his tail is straight and swaying slowly from side to side, it means he feels dominant and will not listen to your commands. If his tale is tucked between his legs, then he is submitting to your commands.
How to Interpret Male Body Language in Cats
Similar to other animals, male cats have their own special way of communicating. From a certain glare with his eyes, to the way he moves his tail, most motions he makes will have some meaning or reasoning behind it. If your cat has begun exhibiting undesirable behaviors, it's time to study him and look for the body language to find out more about why he's behaving the way he is.
