Things You'll Need
- Cat Litter
- White Vinegar &Water Solution
Instructions
Train your cat to use the litter box. Place the litter box in a quiet, secluded location and put your cat inside the litter box to let her recognize the scent as her bathroom. Cats who feel threatened or watched while using the bathroom may use other places.
Clean up the accident area immediately. If your cat goes on the floor, mask the odor by mixing a solution consisting of equal parts white vinegar and water. This will eliminate the odor so that your cat does not associate the floor as his bathroom.
Keep the litter box clean. Scoop out waste on a daily basis and replace the dirty litter with fresh weekly. Cats are naturally clean creatures and will find other places to relieve themselves if their litter is unsanitary. Sprinkling baking soda on the litter can help capture and absorb odors.
If your cat has used its litter box on a regular basis in the past and has recently begun relieving itself on the floor, it can be caused by health issues. Take your cat to the veterinarian and have it checked for medical problems.
