Things You'll Need
- Motion-activated spigot attachment
- Large, shallow pan
- Pet fountain
- Oversized, weighted water bowl
Instructions
Install a motion-activated spigot to a kitchen or bathroom faucet. The cat will move its paws or face by the spigot, which will cause it turn on. The cat can then drink from the flowing water without being able to splash in it.
Place the bowl in a large, shallow pan. The cat will step into the pan and if it splashes water, it can be quickly cleaned up.
Install a pet fountain. The fountain will give the cat a source of fresh liquids while the running water will keep it from being tempted to splash.
Fill an oversized, weighted water bowl with small amounts of water throughout the day. The water will be too shallow for the cat to play in but will still provide a steady source of liquid.
Provide the cat with adequate stimulation throughout the day. This could come in the form of a kitty condo it can climb all day or through play sessions with a string or a fake mouse. This will ensure that the cat is stimulated and tired, which will help stop it from playing in its water bowl.
