How to Train With Litter Kwitter

The pungent smell of dirty kitty litter is not only unpleasant, but it can actually be unhealthy. Cat urine has ammonia in it, which can have adverse effects on human health. Litter Kwitter is a cat training system that teaches cats to use the toilet instead of cat litter. The training system uses a gradual process so that the cat thinks the cat litter box is actually inside the toilet. After a while, the cat uses the toilet out of habit.

Instructions

    • 1

Put the Kwitter Litter toilet seat cover on top of the toilet.

    • 2

Place the red litter disc inside the plastic toilet seat cover. Cover it with a thin layer of kitty litter.

    • 3

Remove all of the litter boxes from the house, so your cat isn't tempted to use them.

    • 4

Show your cat where the cat litter tray is. Help your cat up on the toilet seat, so it knows it's safe to jump up there.

    • 5

Clean the red tray every time the cat uses the litter. Throw out the old litter, and clean the disc off with household cleaner. Put the disc back inside the toilet seat cover, and recover it with cat litter.

    • 6

Continue to guide the cat to the red disc until it becomes comfortable on its own to use it, then switch out the red disc with the orange disc. Fill the outside of the orange ring with cat litter.

    • 7

Wait for the cat to become comfortable with the orange disc, and continue to clean it out after each use. The goal is for the cat to not use the actual kitty litter portion of the disc, but to feel comfortable going to the bathroom through the opening in the center of the disc.

    • 8

Switch out the orange disc with the yellow disc, and use it until you notice the cat not using the disc at all.

    • 9

Remove the disc and toilet seat cover altogether. If the cat starts to slip up and has accidents elsewhere in the house, go back to the yellow disc.
