Pour about 2 cups of vinegar in a cup. Slowly pour the vinegar over the entire surface of the urine stain. Allow to sit for about a half an hour. Blot up any excess vinegar with a towel to prevent any mildew from forming in the carpet. Make sure you blot it as much as you can, applying pressure to the towel. Open some windows, turn on a heater or use a fan to help increase the drying time.

Allow the carpet to completely dry. Keep the cat away from the area during this time. Take 1 to 1 and 1/2 cup of baking soda and slowly sprinkle it over the area creating a moderate layer upon the surface of the stain. Allow the baking soda to sit overnight.

Vacuum up the baking soda. Use this method for each area in which the cat has urinated. After this process, you should have removed the odor or the odor should have greatly decreased. Repeat the process if necessary.
