How to Get Rid of Cat Odors From Outdoors

If you notice a strong cat urine smell outdoors, reduce and remove the smell with a few basic ingredients. Cats will continue to use the area to mark their territory. If the area remains comfortable for the cat, your outdoor garden, bush or flower patch will continue to smell like urine. Once you remove the cat odor, make the area uncomfortable for the cat to keep it from relieving itself outdoors by your home.

Instructions

    • 1

Saturate the cat odor location, using a garden hose. The water will flush away the cat urine and remove the smell.

    • 2

Spray the area with a natural enzyme product to remove urine odors. Use a product that will not harm your plants or grass. Spray as much of the cat urine area as possible with the enzyme product to remove the smell.

    • 3

Sprinkle coffee grounds, citrus fruit peels or cayenne pepper around the area to keep cats away. Oils like lavender, peppermint and eucalyptus will also prevent the cat from using the area.

    • 4

Make the area uncomfortable for the cat. If you prefer not to use smells or chemicals on the ground around your plants or grass, cover the area with stones and pine cones. The cat will not enjoy standing on the area, and will take his business elsewhere.
