Feed your cat on the floor. Feeding your cat on a countertop and then expecting her to avoid other countertops sends mixed messages.

Tell your cat, "No!" with a firm tone when he jumps onto an undesirable surface. Immediately pick up your cat and place him on the floor. Do this every time your cat jumps on an undesirable surface. Give your cat a treat after he remains on the floor and does not try to jump back onto the undesirable surface for one minute.

Spray your cat with water using the spray bottle each time she jumps on an undesirable surface. Your cat will likely jump off of the surface because she does not like the water, but it is a painless training tool. Soon enough, your cat will jump off the undesirable surface as soon as she sees you picking up the spray bottle.
