How to Stop a Cat From Attacking Your Feet

Cats are natural stalkers and hunters. A cat that doesn't get the chance to chase birds and squirrels may decide it wants to "catch" your feet instead. Fortunately, cats are quite easy to discourage. Your pet feline may enjoy sneaking up and jumping at your feet, but if you turn the tables by startling him instead, he will soon give up the game.

Instructions

    • 1

Get the cat a collar with a bell on it. This will let you know when the cat is coming to attack your feet.

    • 2

Keep a spray bottle filled with water in any room in which your cat is likely to attack you.

    • 3

Grab the spray bottle when you hear the bell tinkle to indicate the cat is running up to attack your feet.

    • 4

Just as he is about to attack your feet, shout "No!" and spray him with the water. This should scare him off and let him know attacking you is a bad idea.

    • 5

Pick the cat up every time he attacks you and lock him in a room for a timeout if the spraying doesn't work. This should help end the behavior.
