Instructions

    • 1

Bring your cat to a room where there is little to no clutter around the light switch and start with the light switch pushed up.

    • 2

Get ready by having in your possession your cat's favorite treats and a piece of string or his favorite toy. The idea is to have something that will get him excited, making him want to jump up and grab it.

    • 3

Dangle the toy or string above the light switch so that the cat hits the light switch when grabbing for the toy.

    • 4

Every time the cat succeeds in hitting the light switch down you reward her with her favorite treat, right there in the room. Continue this for the next 15-30 minutes, repeatedly rewarding the cat when she knocks the light switch down when grabbing for the toy.

Once the cat gets the hang of it you will replace the toy with a snap of your fingers. You will repeatedly make light snapping noises above the light switch and that cat will know that you want him to jump up to the light switch. Continue the rewards until you are ready to repeat the process for pushing the light switch up.
