How many types of camels are in the camel family?

There are three types of camels in the camel family:

1. Dromedary camel (Camelus dromedarius): This is the one-humped camel, found primarily in the Arabian Peninsula and the Horn of Africa.

2. Bactrian camel (Camelus bactrianus): This is the two-humped camel, native to Central Asia.

3. Wild Bactrian camel (Camelus ferus): This is a critically endangered species, found only in the Gobi Desert of Mongolia and China. It is closely related to the Bactrian camel but is genetically distinct.

Therefore, there are three distinct species within the camel family.
