How to Identify a Ragdoll Cat

Ragdolls, called a pointed breed for their colorations, were specifically bred into their appearance and temperament. They were intended as a large and gentle breed of cat to be good house cats for homes with children. Here is how you know you have one.

Instructions

    • 1

Evaluate the coloring of your cat. Ragdoll cats come in a variety of different colors and patterns. The colors are blue, chocolate, cream, lilac, red and seal. The patterns include bi-color, mitted, point and van.

    • 2

Check your heels. Ragdoll cats tend to be very interested in humans. They will spend as much time as possible with their families. Ragdolls have been known to follow their humans from room to room, including bathrooms and bedrooms.

    • 3

Measure the fur. Ragdolls have medium to long fur. It is generally medium length on the majority of the body with extra length and density in the mane. The fur on the front legs is shorter than on the back ones.

    • 4

Look at her face. These loving cats have wedge-shaped heads with medium-sized ears. They have wide-set, oval eyes that are crystal blue.

    • 5

Build up your arm strength. Toting around these upwards to 20-pound cats tones up your arms. The females of this breed tend to be much lighter, falling between 10 and 15 pounds in weight.
