F1 Savannah Cat:
- Genetic Makeup: F1 Savannahs are the direct offspring of a first-generation cross between a domestic cat (typically a Bengal) and an African Serval.
- Appearance: F1 Savannahs are large and striking cats. They exhibit characteristics closer to their wild Serval parent. Their coat pattern displays bold, high-contrast spots, and their physique exhibits long legs, a lean muscular body, and an elongated neck.
- Personality: F1 Savannahs are known for their curious, active, and playful personalities. They are highly intelligent, possessing an affinity for exploration and interaction. However, due to their wild lineage, F1 Savannahs may display certain untamed behaviors, such as climbing and jumping, and might be more challenging to train.
F7 Savannah Cat:
- Genetic Makeup: F7 Savannahs are a result of several generations of breeding between Savannah cats and domestic cats, typically without further introduction of African Serval genes.
- Appearance: F7 Savannahs are further removed from the original Serval heritage, resulting in a more refined appearance. They exhibit reduced spotting or "ghost markings," where spots have faded into the coat, and their overall size tends to be smaller compared to F1 Savannahs.
- Personality: F7 Savannahs are known for their calm and gentle temperament, making them more suitable for indoor companionship. They are sociable, affectionate, and exhibit a strong bond with their human family members. They retain the playful nature of their ancestors but require less demanding care than higher generation Savannah cats.
As you move further along the Savannah generation spectrum from F1 to F7, the characteristics and personalities gradually become more domesticated and closer to the traditional house cat while maintaining some of the impressive traits inherited from their wild ancestors.
