Does felis catus and silvestris have the same family?

Felis catus (the domestic cat) and Felis silvestris (the European wildcat) do indeed belong to the same biological family: Felidae. The Felidae family encompasses various feline species, including lions, tigers, leopards, cheetahs, pumas, lynxes, ocelots, caracals, servals, and many more.

Felis catus and Felis silvestris are closely related within the Felidae family, both belonging to the Felis genus. The domestic cat originated from the African wildcat (Felis lybica), an ancestor species from which modern Felis catus has diverged due to domestication over thousands of years.
