The Behavior of the Tortie Point Siamese Cat

The Tortie Point Siamese cat is still a Siamese cat, but has a distinct mottled pattern to his colored areas. A regular Siamese has solid coloration in the areas where the fur is a different color from the rest of the body; the Tortie Point, however, has a tortoiseshell-like pattern in those areas. Because the Tortie Point is one type of Siamese, he shares the behavior characteristics of the Siamese cat. The Tortie Point, like other Siamese cats, is vocal, affectionate, active and demanding.
  1. Vocal

    • The Tortie Point Siamese cat has the same vocal cords that the Siamese cats are famous for. Petfinder says that this cat does not produce the typical "meow" that is common among domestic cats, but instead speaks with a raspy voice. Pet Wave adds that the sound is usually prolonged and sounds like a baby crying. This particular breed enjoys conversing with people in almost any situation. The goal of all this communicating is for the cat to show affection.

    Affectionate

    • Pet Wave describes the Tortie Point Siamese cat as precocious, gregarious, intelligent and outgoing. Like other Siamese cats, the Tortie Point is very affectionate with the people and pets in his life that he knows and likes. But, the affection does have its limits, as the cat can be aloof with strangers. With his own people though, he likes to follow family members around the home and be involved in family events. If left alone too often, the cat can become depressed.

    Active

    • In terms of activity, the Tortie Point Siamese is as active as other Siamese cats. She enjoys playing with toys and requires many toys to occupy her throughout the day. Being an active cat, she also enjoys climbing and will like cat climbing furniture in the home as well as cat scratching posts. With a highly sociable nature and high energy level, the Tortie Point Siamese cat is also a natural fetcher and will fetch toys that are thrown. However, not all cats of this breed may fetch, as there are individual differences within the breed.

    Demanding

    • This cat will make his demands for attention and affection known. According to Petfinder, the breed is known for the ability to communicate needs through vocalizations. If the cat is bored, then he is very likely to begin thrashing his tail until something of interest comes up. Owners that are patient and are willing to shower the cat with affection will be able to meet his demands for attention.
