High Energy Personality
-
An independent Abyssinian cat is a good match for a high-energy overachiever type of personality. The Abyssinian won't fight for attention from you and doesn't mind being at home by itself as it is freedom loving and would not be considered a lap cat. You can run your errands, meet with your friends and keep your active lifestyle while knowing that your cat won't mind. This cat won't just sit around while you are gone. Abyssinians also are very active and keep themselves busy. Siamese cats also may be a match for you. It stays busy while you are out but will expect affection when you get home.
Homebody Personality
-
A cat that loves to be cuddled and has a low-activity level, such as the Birman, is a breed that would match the personality of a homebody. They've been noted as the cat of balance. They have a devoted personality and also require a great deal of grooming, although not daily. This gives you good reason to cuddle on the couch with your cat -- not that you needed an excuse. Another breed that requires daily grooming is the sweet-tempered Persian cat.
Aloof Personality
-
If you're the type of person that likes to admire things from afar, doesn't need to be in the mix of things but likes to be present, isn't snooty but prefers a handshake over a hug, then an Oriental breed would be good for you. Oriental breeds are lively, curious, intelligent and can even handle being walked on a leash. Because of their long, elegant bodies, they are referred to as the greyhound of cats. Ragdoll cats also may be a good fit as they have self-control, never showing the slightest sign of aggression or impatience.
Devoted Family Person
-
If you are the anchor of your family and already have a brood of children and other pets, a Maine Coon breed would fit in nicely with your ever-growing family. They don't mind other pets, only need to be groomed a couple times a week and are playful enough for your children. Another cat that could fit your family is the American shorthair, known for its happy personality and for being friendly with children and other pets.
