How to Identify Birman Cats by Color
Birman cats are a breed of cat said to have originated in Burma in Southeast Asia and kept by temple priests. Legend has it that the Birman cat is a reincarnation of his priest. Birmans first arrived in Europe in the 1910's and became a recognized breed in the United States in the late 1960's. The cats are mild-tempered and sociable and resemble Siamese cats. However, the Birman cat has many features that distinguish them from other breeds. All Birman cats are born white, but later develop colors in their coats that make them stand out.
