How old do you know a Dog is...without knowing the date that they were born?

Look at its teeth! A dog’s teeth can give you a pretty good indication of its age. Here’s how to do it:

Puppy: A puppy’s teeth are all white and sharp.

6 months to 1 year: The puppy’s incisors (the front teeth) will start to wear down and become slightly rounded.

1 to 2 years: The canines (the long, pointy teeth) will start to wear down and become blunt.

2 to 3 years: The premolars (the teeth behind the canines) will start to show some wear and tear.

3 to 4 years: The molars (the back teeth) will start to show some wear and tear.

4 to 5 years: The dog’s teeth will start to become yellow or brown and may start to chip or crack.

5 to 10 years: The dog’s teeth will continue to wear down and become more yellow or brown. They may also start to develop tartar buildup.

10+ years: The dog’s teeth will be very worn down and may be missing some. They will also be very yellow or brown and may have a lot of tartar buildup.
