When can newborn puppies have their first bath?

Newborn puppies should not be bathed until they are at least 4 weeks old.

Here's why:

* Their immune systems are still developing: Young puppies are extremely vulnerable to infections, and bathing them before their immune system is strong enough can increase the risk of illness.

* They are sensitive to cold: Puppies are unable to regulate their body temperature effectively in the first few weeks of life, and bathing them can lead to hypothermia.

* They are still learning: Puppies need time to develop their sense of smell and explore their surroundings. Bathing them too early can disrupt this process.

Instead of bathing, you can gently wipe your puppies down with a warm, damp cloth. This will help to keep them clean and healthy until they are old enough for a bath.

Important: Always consult with your veterinarian before bathing a puppy, especially if they have any health issues. They can advise you on the best way to bathe your puppy based on their individual needs.
