What hunts African wild dogs?

African wild dogs face a variety of threats, both natural and human-made. Here are some of the predators that hunt them:

Natural Predators:

* Lions: While not a regular prey item, lions will occasionally kill and eat African wild dogs, especially when prey is scarce.

* Leopards: Leopards can also prey on wild dogs, but this is less common than with lions.

* Hyenas: Spotted hyenas and brown hyenas are known to compete with wild dogs for food and territory, and may even kill pups or adults.

* Crocodiles: Crocodiles can be a danger to wild dogs, especially near water sources.

Other Threats:

* Competition with other carnivores: African wild dogs face intense competition for food and territory from other predators such as lions, hyenas, and leopards.

* Disease: Wild dogs are susceptible to a number of diseases, including canine distemper virus, rabies, and parvovirus.

* Habitat loss: Human encroachment and habitat loss are major threats to wild dog populations.

* Human conflict: Wild dogs are often persecuted by humans due to livestock predation.

Important note: African wild dogs are highly vulnerable and are classified as "Endangered" by the IUCN. Their populations are declining due to the factors listed above.
