How to Breed Female AKC Rottweilers

Deciding to breed your female AKC Rottweilers is a big step that should be thoroughly examined before you begin. Not only is breeding your dog going to be quite expensive, but there is little to no profit from doing so. Consequently, those who do breed, do so out of their love for the breed or because they show their dogs and can demand a higher price.

Instructions

  1. Conception

    • 1

Find a male AKC registered Rottweiler and make an agreement with the owner. Typically, the owner of the male gets pick of the litter.

    • 2

Take your dog to the vet to insure that she is at a perfect age and in perfect health for breeding. Determine when her next heat will be.

    • 3

Place the female with the male while she is in heat and wait for intercourse.

    • 4

      Separate them.

    • 5

Bring your female to the vet in about a month to determine if pregnant. If not, you will have to wait until her next heat.

    Pregnancy

    • 6

Take your female to the vet as directed and be sure she gets the recommended food. Typically, they require food higher in protein.

    • 7

Carefully monitor her pregnancy and keep all vet appointments.

    • 8

Educate yourself and ask your vet about delivery and if any assistance will be needed.

    • 9

Try to be there when the female gives birth to assist if anything were to go wrong, although Rottweilers are not known to have issues birthing as other breeds sometimes do.

    • 10

Immediately call your vet if you suspect something isn't as it should be.
