Instructions
Create a comfortable atmosphere. Someone should be there to make sure the mating process goes smoothly, but too many people could make the dogs nervous. If other people are present, warn them to keep quiet and not make distracting movements.
Allow the male dog into an enclosed area with the female. If the dogs are experienced, you should not have to do anything. If they are inexperienced, you may want to hold the female's collar and reassure her so the male can make his move.
Permit the dogs to play and flirt with each other. This may include biting, snapping and mounting, and it is completely natural. Canine foreplay can last up to an hour. Do not try to hurry along the mating process.
Use your hand to support the female's posterior abdomen if the male is overexcited. This action gives support and comfort to both dogs, and it helps the male direct his penis into the female's vagina.
Do not pull the male dog away, if he mounts the female's head at first. This is natural for inexperienced male dogs. The dog will eventually make his way around to the correct end of the female.
Separate the dogs, if they bite and snarl at each other beyond the limits of play. The female may not be at the right point in her cycle, nine days after her vaginal discharge begins.
How to Get a Male Dog Interested in a Female Dog
An un-neutered male dog will almost always display interest in a female dog, if she's in heat. However, there are some things you can do to speed up the process and make it run more smoothly. Create a comfortable atmosphere, and don't try to force the dogs. Mating should happen naturally, if the female is at the right point in her cycle.
