Should you put the male and female together in same breeding net for how long?

It depends on the species of fish.

Here are some general guidelines:

- Warm-water fish, such as guppies and platies, can be left together in the breeding net for up to 24 hours.

- Cool-water fish, such as goldfish and minnows, should be left together for no more than 12 hours.

- Cold-water fish, such as trout and salmon, should not be left together for more than 6 hours.

Some fish species may require even shorter breeding times. For example, bettas only need to be left together for a few minutes.

How to remove the female from breeding net:

Once the female has released her eggs, she should be removed from the breeding net. To do this, gently lift the net out of the water and place it in a separate container. Be careful not to drop the female or let her escape from the net.

What to do with the fry:

After the female has been removed from the breeding net, the male will continue to guard the eggs. Once the eggs have hatched, the male will continue to guard the fry until they are free-swimming. At this point, the fry can be moved to a larger tank or released into the wild.
