How often do rottweilers come on season?
Rottweilers typically come on season, or have their estrus cycle, twice per year. The estrus cycle generally lasts for 21 days and is divided into four stages: proestrus, estrus, diestrus, and anestrus. During proestrus, which lasts for about 3-9 days, the female Rottweiler may become restless, show increased urination, and experience swelling of the vulva. Estrus, which lasts for 5-12 days, is the fertile period when the female Rottweiler is receptive to mating. During this stage, she will show signs of heat, such as increased interest in males, mounting behavior, and a discharge from the vulva. Diestrus lasts for about 14 days and is the period after ovulation has occurred. During this stage, the female Rottweiler may experience a decrease in energy and a loss of appetite. Anestrus is the longest stage of the estrus cycle, lasting for 4-5 months, during which the female Rottweiler is not fertile.
