Size of Pomeranians
-
Newborn Pomeranian puppies weigh less than a pound, ranging from 2 to 5 ounces. Their tiny bones require delicate handling, as they are quite fragile. As the puppies grow, they will reach a maximum weight of 3 to 7 pounds and stand 7 to 12 inches high in adulthood.
Environmental Temperature for Newborn Pomeranians
-
The tiny newborn Pomeranian can easily get cold, so make sure they are kept warm. The recommended temperature is 95 to 100 degrees Farenheit. Ideally the pups will still be with their mother and can use her body warmth. If not, use a heat lamp during the first week and eventually drop the temperature down to 75 degrees after three weeks.
Feeding and Hydration for the Newborn Pomeranian
-
Newborn Pomeranians need to stay hydrated. Keep a bowl of water nearby to hydrate the air. Puppies will regularly feed from their mother's teat. If being hand-fed, use a puppy-rearing formula in a special bottle or by tube feeding. Their digestive systems are extremely sensitive, so formulas may only be changed gradually. If the puppy demonstrates any stomach upset, the formula may be changing too rapidly.
Growth of the Newborn Pomeranian
-
With a healthy diet, a newborn Pomeranian will put on a few ounces daily. Check its weight every day on a small kitchen scale. Keep a record for each puppy. The majority of growth will occur within the puppy's first six months. They usually stop growing around one year of age. Pomeranians will live to be about 15 years old.

The Average Size of Newborn Pomeranians
Pomeranians are small dogs with tiny facial features that get lost in mounds of long fur. They resemble Chihuahuas with a lion's mane. These toy dogs are favorites with families and have a tendency to become the boss over their humans. Newborn poms are very small and require delicate care and handling to help them grow into healthy adults.
