Poodle Behaviors

While Poodles come in several sizes, all are generally playful and happy pets who are coveted by dog enthusiasts for their love and affection, as well as their regal demeanor. Most Poodle owners quickly learn they need to shower this energetic dog with attention and constantly think of new games and ways to keep their pet entertained to stave off boredom.

  1. Owner Love

    • Poodles are loyal to their masters, yet can often become shy around humans they do not know. They are sensitive dogs who seem to be able to tell what type of mood their owner is in. If you are agitated, your poodle might become agitated as well. They do best in a peaceful household. Their extreme sensitivity makes them excellent watch dogs; they will usually bark if they sense that anything is amiss.

    Happy Dogs

    • Many poodle owners claim their dog actually has a sense of humor, but they also give off a proud and dignified demeanor, which make them a popular show dog. They are rarely ever aggressive and do well with other animals in the house. As long as poodles get the attention they need, they are generally cheerful dogs who love to snuggle.

    Social Necessities

    • It is important for Poodles to socialize as puppies, as they can become high strung and excessively shy among strangers if they are not. They might demand more attention of owners if they cannot get along well with other humans. If ignored, they might act out by relieving themselves where they know it is inappropriate.

    Family Dogs

    • Include your poodle in family activities, as they might feel ignored if you don't. The bond with their owner family is strong. They are just as happy relaxing on the couch with their owner as they are outside expending energy. However, they require daily activity and exercise.
