How to Dye a Poodle Pink

You might think that hair dye is just for people, but many people opt to dye their dog's fur, whether they like their dog to match their outfits or simply like their dogs to sport colorful fur. Poodles are popular breeds for dyed fur because their fluffy coats can result in a striking appearance. When you want to dye your poodle pink, be sure you use the appropriate dye and that you are careful, because some dyes can be toxic to the dog.

Instructions

  1. Using Special Dye

    • 1

Shampoo your dog as normal, rinsing thoroughly.

    • 2

Place the pink dye in a spray bottle.

    • 3

Put on a pair of latex gloves so that the dye will not stain your hands.

    • 4

Begin spraying the dog fur dye onto the dog in small sections. Work the dye in with your hands and make sure all of the hairs are dyed before moving on to another section. Start with the back of the dog, work your way down its legs and then toward the front of the dog.

    • 5

Use a cotton ball or a cotton swab to apply the fur dye to your poodle's face. Take care when you are dying the fur around its eyes and mouth.

    • 6

Leave the dye on the dog's fur the the length of time indicated on the package. Do not leave the poodle unattended, as you will need to make sure it does not lick the dye off of its fur.

    • 7

Rinse the dye from the poodle's fur, making sure that you remove all of it. Dry the dog's fur.

    Using Drink Mix

    • 8

Choose an unsweetened powdered drink mix that results in pink liquid, such as strawberry. Empty the packets into a large spray bottle. The number of packets you will need depends on the size of the poodle and the shade of pink you desire.

    • 9

Add warm water to the drink mix in the spray bottle and shake it up to dissolve. Add the amount of water that gives you the shade of pink you desire. More water will give you a paler pink, while less water will give you a more intense pink.

    • 10

Wash your dog and rinse it thoroughly.

    • 11

Spray the dissolved drink mix and water onto your poodle's fur in small sections, working the dye into the fur.

    • 12

Start at the back of the dog and work your way forward until you have completely dyed the dog. Use car when working around its eyes.
