Types of Cute Little Puppies

There are hundreds of pure breed and mix breed dogs in the world today. Their origins are as diverse as their sizes, shapes and colors. This makes it feasible to meet nearly any person's personal canine criteria. Whether your shopping list for a companion includes a dog for sport, work or play, all will share a few common traits.
  1. Small

    • The Chihuahua is named after the state of Chihuahua in Mexico.

A characteristic all puppies share is their propensity to be cute. The first group of cutest puppies includes the smallest puppies or toy dogs. This group was specifically bred for companionship, nurturing and pampering. The group includes, among others, the pekingese, Japanese chin, pomeranian, Maltese, pug, Shih tzu, toy poodle, Yorkshire terrier, pug, papillon and Chihuahua. According to Encyclopedia Britannica, at one time it was illegal to export the pekingese or Japanese chin out of their countries of origin as royalty was only privy to owning such dogs.

    Medium

    • The boxer gets its name for often using its paws for play.

Hounds, sporting/nonsporting dogs, terriers, hunting and herding/nonherding dogs make up the medium to large sized, most cutest puppies. These fellows and gals are a bit more heartier than their toy counterparts, but are nonetheless just as appealing. Their weight class starts around 30 lbs. A few breeds in this category such as the Irish wolfhound weigh in at nearly 120 lbs. according to the Encyclopedia Britannica. Other cuties in this group include the greyhound, dachshund, bull and Scottish terriers, Jack Russell, bloodhound, beagle, some pointers/spaniels and the Irish setter. The golden retriever and Labrador retriever receive high praise for being as cute as they are affectionate and gentle.

    Large

    • German sheperds are often employed as police dogs.

The cutest of the large breed puppies are taken from the working class dogs. The sizable builds of some of these dogs can tip the scale at nearly 200 lbs. as adults. This gorgeous breed protects, guides, rescues and guards its owner. Belonging to the herding group according to the American Kennel Association, the German shepherd puppy is one of the cutest puppies that matures into a stately adult. Other adorable puppies from the large breeds include the akita, rottweiler, St. Bernard, Alaskan malamute, Bernese mountain dog, bullmastiff, doberman pinscher, great dane, great pyrenees, Newfoundland and Siberian husky.

    Mixed

    • Mixed breeds can often be superior to prizewinning breeds.

Mixed breed puppies offer a wide variety of distinct looks. Their one of a kind and sometimes less than perfect markings foster charming appearances appreciated by many dog owners worldwide. Not knowing their ancestry does not diminish the sweetness of some of the cutest puppies ever born.
