Energy
-
Boston terriers generally have a moderate energy level, so are not considered hyperactive like many small breeds. They require daily exercise, but do not need large amounts of space to run in -- a daily walk or game of fetch is enough to make most of these dogs happy. They can live in small apartments as well as in areas with more space.
Sociability
-
These terriers are very sociable and live well with children, adults and other family pets. They become very attached to their owners, and tend to prefer one person over all others. While they may bark to alert their owners to visitors, they are very friendly and enjoy meeting new people.
Intellegence
-
Boston terriers are considered highly intelligent and fairly easy to train. However, they also can be a little stubborn, especially about housebreaking. Their intelligence can lead to mischief if they get bored, so these dogs need toys to keep them occupied when their owner isn't able to watch them.
Affection
-
Boston terriers are very affectionate, loving to be played with and petted. They were bred to be companion animals and do not do well as outside dogs. These animals prefer to be with their human family as much as possible.
