These dogs stand 13 to 15 inches tall when measuring to the shoulder. This breed is small in stature with a long, rough coat of hair. Petit Basset Griffon Vendéens are white in color with accent markings in colors like lemon, orange, black, sable or tricolor. The accent colors make it easy for this scent hound to be seen while hunting.     Grand Basset Griffon Vendeen

    • The Grand Basset Griffon Vendeen is larger. This particular type is measured at shoulder height between 15.5 and 17 inches tall. It is typically a two-tone combination of colors like black, white and tan. This pack dog prefers to be with people and due to this hunting dog's heightened sense of smell, should be kept on a leash when taken on walks. Frequent walks are necessary for this dog. This Basset Hound breed loves children and remains devoted to its owners. A Grand Basset Griffon Vendeen can be stubborn when it comes to training, so be consistent and firm for best results.

    Basset Bleu De Gascogne

    • The Basset Bleu De Gascogne is a highly active, happy and affectionate breed of Basset Hound. It stands 13 to 15 inches tall. This breed does well in a pack or solo. It is an excellent hunter with his superb sense of smell. The Basset Bleu De Gascogne has a fine, smooth, short coat of hair. His coloring is typically displayed in a black and white combination with a slightly slate blue look. Black markings often cover the dog's droopy ears and a white mark generally sits atop his skull.

    • The Basset Fauve De Bretagne is a Basset Hound breed that stands on his short legs between 12.5 to 15 inches tall at his shoulder height. This particular breed sports a lively expression and has a friendly temperament suitable for families with children. A Basset Fauve De Bretagne is fawn, gold or red in color, often with a white marking on the chest. His coat is dense, rough and flat and can be long or woolly.
