How to Paint a Yorkie

Knowing how to paint your Yorkie can make the difference between a spectacle of colored yet safe furs and a Yorkie that looks like any other full-breed Yorkie. For the safety of the Yorkie, you must use a dye that not only colors your pet, but also will not harm your Yorkie. Your Yorkie must have undamaged and non-sensitive skin for the dye to work. If you find yourself with a creative spark for your ordinary Yorkie, using dyes can help you show off your newly painted Yorkie.

Instructions

    • 1

Shampoo your dog to get rid of any excess dirt, because dirt will clump the dye and make it look uneven. Focus on areas where you want to highlight the dye colors. Rinse off the shampoo and then put on a pair of rubber gloves. (see References 1-3)

    • 2

Open the tub of dog hair dye, and then apply the color to the Yorkie's wet fur. The more you rub in the fur dye, the more apparent the color will become. Let the dye set in for 15 to 20 minutes. (see References 1-3)

    • 3

Rinse the dye from the Yorkie's fur and then dry the Yorkie with a hair dryer. After the fur is dry, brush the dog's fur to highlight the new colors on your Yorkie. (see References 1-3)
