Instructions
Registering a Puppy When Both Parents Are Registered
Request the registration application from the breeder. Make sure the parents' registration numbers appear on the application. If they are not, ask to see the certificates and add the numbers. Make sure the breeder signs the application.
Apply on line once you have the signed application. The Continental Kennel Club requires an application number and signature. American Pit Bull Registry does not require an application number. If you must send a hard copy of the application, print out the registration form.
Fill in your puppy's name, date of birth and physical description. Add the dam's and sire's registration numbers and the breeder's information. You also fill out your name, mailing address and other information. If you have registered your puppy with other kennel clubs, include that information.
Attach payment with a personal check or money order. If you're able to submit the application online, you must enter a debit or credit card number. Once the kennel club has your application, it takes up to 10 weeks to process.
Registering a Puppy When the Parents Are Not Registered
Print out the appropriate application form.
Take photos of the dog from the front both sides, as kennel clubs will require photos of the pit bull to be included with the application. Email or mail hard copies of the images to the kennel club. If you enclose hard copies, most kennel clubs will return them after your application is processed.
Provide statements from three witnesses who will confirm the information you've provided is accurate and truthful.
Have your dog's DNA tested, which is required to ensure your dog is an American pit bull especially if the parentage is in question. Attach a copy of the DNA information, if required, retaining a photocopy for your records.
Go back to Section 1 and follow Steps 3 and 4.
