If you are looking to either attend a sporting dog event in Massachusetts as a spectator or register for one there are two main resources for locating where and when events will be taking place. The AKC website has a search page for all AKC events. Select Massachusetts and then select the type of event (e.g: field trial, hunting test) from the drop-down menu. MB-F is the superintendent for most dog shows within Massachusetts. Go to the calendar to see a list of upcoming shows, as well as closing dates for registration and event judges, and to register. If you own a sporting dog and are looking to get involved in any events in Massachusetts the best place to start is a by locating a local club. There are breed-based clubs and performance clubs for both field trials and hunting. See the Bird Dog and Retriever News Sporting Dog Clubs list for a list of breed-based clubs for pointers, retrievers and spaniels, or go to the AKC club search page to locate field trial and hunting clubs. Sporting Dog Shows in MA
Sporting dogs are a group of American Kennel Club-recognized breeds that includes varieties of pointers, retrievers, setters and spaniels. The breeds can also be referred to as hunting dogs, bird dogs, and gun dogs. These dogs tend to be agile in the water as well as on land and may participate in a variety of events including conformation, agility, and hunting and field trials.
