Pure Breed Boxer Information

The pure-breed boxer behaves well with children and enjoys human interaction.

    • Boxers were bred in Germany in the 1800s as a hunting companion and for dog fighting, according to the AKC. They first appeared in the United States after World War I.

    • Female pure-breed boxers stand at 21 to 23.5 inches and weigh 50 to 60 lbs. Males are 22.5 to 25 inches high and weigh 65 to 80 lbs., according to Dogbreedz.
