Chorkie Puppy Information

A Chihuahua and a Yorkshire Terrier crossbreed, also known as a Chorkie, is a newer crossbreed with a short history. Chorkies are intelligent, obedient and their temperament is a blend of their parents.
  1. Temperament

    • The temperament, based on the parents, will vary. However, Chorkies will bark since both Yorkshire Terriers and Chihuahuas are barkers. They will not let their small size stop them from being aggressive with other dogs.

    Health

    • Chorkies tend to be much healthier than Chihuahuas or Yorkies, living up to 15 years. Their litter sizes are about three to five puppies.

    Appearance

    • Chorkies can weigh up to 10 lbs. Their coats are often medium-length with colors including gray, white, black, tan, brown and occasionally red. Their nose hair may become gray with age.

    Grooming

    • Chorkies often have oily hair and can be prone to skin rashes. They should often have baths and be brushed every week. Their hair is similar to human hair, and may begin to smell if not properly groomed.

    Exercise

    • Although small, Chorkies need plenty of exercise. They enjoy playing fetch and going for walks.
