The Bichon Havanese is native to Cuba. It descends from dogs brought to Cuba from Spain. During the 18th and 19th centuries, they were owned primarily by aristocratic families.
Appearance

Bichon Havanese range in height from 8.5 to 11.5 inches. They have dark brown eyes, a black nose and black lips. Their long-haired tail curls back over the hind quarters.
Coat

The Bichon Havanese has a double coat that is soft, long and wavy. Their coats come in a wide range of colors including white, black, cream, gray and multi-colors.
Temperament

Bichon Havanese dogs are very sociable dogs that do well with children and with other pets. They are an intelligent breed with a loving, playful disposition.
Requirements

Bichon Havanese dogs are well-suited to living in an apartment environment. However, while they do not require a large backyard, they must receive daily exercise.

Bichon Havanese are very small yet very hardy toy dogs that make great family pets. This breed has an average lifespan of around 14 to 15 years. Since Bichon Havanese typically shed very little, they also make excellent pets for those who have allergies.
