Kinds of Dogs That Don't Shed

There are a variety of dogs that are considered to be shedless, and the reason dogs of this type are preferred by many dog lovers is because there is less hair to deal with and clean up or to prevent the associated allergies that can be triggered by dog hair.
  1. American Hairless Terrier

    • These energetic and intelligent dogs don't have any hair on their bodies. At birth, they have a patch of fuzzy and short hair that falls off.

    Bichon Frise

    • These long-coat dogs are great for people who are prone to allergies. Their long, curly hair traps the dander that can be brushed out during a regular grooming routine.

    Havanese

    • This playful breed sheds a bit of hair but not as much as the other dogs. This might be a problem with people with severe allergies.

    Schnauzer

    • These alert dogs have a wiry coat with little or almost no shedding. They make great watch dogs and are perfect for apartments.

    Yorkshire Terrier

    • The Yorkshire Terrier is one of the long-haired breed of dogs that has continuous growth hair much like that of humans, so you won't find hair all over the place, although it might be all in their face if not kept trimmed.

    Portuguese Water Dog

    • These dogs love to play in the water and don't shed their hair despite a thick coat. They are great for people with allergies.
