Bichon Frise made their first appearance in France during the 13th century and is the result of breeding between the Barbet water spaniel and the poodle They quickly became a favorite of the French royal court. The American Kennel Club recognized the Bichon Frise in 1988.

The Bichon Frise puppy will grow to between 9½ to 11½ inches high and weigh from 7 to 12 pounds. While the Bichon Frise is mostly white as an adult, puppies can have bits of cream colored accents. The breed has a double coat, does not shed and is hypoallergenic.
