Things You'll Need
- Challenging dog toys
Instructions
Take your Border collie outside for an activity. This may be a simple walk around the neighborhood, but also may be keeping up with you as you mountain bike or hike a long trail. Border collies are known for being able to work for hours on end without getting tired. If you do take your collie for a walk, consider going somewhere you can leave it off leash. This will give it ample opportunity to run ahead and get more exercise than being on a leash.
Give your Border collie challenging toys. Border collies are smart dogs and enjoy challenges. Toys such as treat-release toys or hide a treat toys should keep your dog entertained while you are busy doing other things or at work.
Play indoor and outdoor games. Due to its intelligence, the Border collie generally trains easily. Play games such as "hide the treat" where the collie must discover the treats you've hidden around the house, or other games such as Frisbee or fetch outside. Border collies are also no stranger to the water. Have yours swim in a lake or river for entertainment.
Train your collie in agility. The collie will generally take well to agility training. An agility course in the backyard can keep your dog entertained for many hours.
