Who was the first hispanic veterinarian?
The first Hispanic veterinarian in the United States is believed to be Dr. Joseph De La Garza. He was born in Laredo, Texas, in 1878 and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 1902. He returned to Texas and practiced veterinary medicine in Laredo for over 50 years. He was also active in the community and was a member of the Laredo City Council and the Laredo Independent School District Board of Trustees. He died in Laredo in 1959.
