Size
-
Full-blooded male and female miniature pinschers both, at full maturity, usually grow to anywhere between 10 and 12.5 inches tall. They also typically weigh between 8 and 10 pounds or so. Their wee bodies allow them to successfully live in many different types of homes, including tight urban condominiums and apartments.
Coloration
-
Pure miniature pinschers exist in a handful of color varieties. Some of them have purely red coats. Some of them have black fur and prominent reddish-brown areas throughout their coats. Some are deep brown with beige elements. These color markings can appear all over their bodies, including on their cheeks, jaws, forelimbs, inner hind legs and feet. Others have predominantly red fur, but with a good amount of black color mixed in, as well. Their hair has an even texture, and is glossy and extremely short. For the most part, maintaining their coats is a straightforward and simple task. They need "once in a while" brushing sessions, mostly for the extraction of loose hairs.
Other Memorable Physical Traits
-
Some other physical qualities that are characteristic of doggies from this breed are upright ears, sinewy overall physiques, dark oval-shaped eyes and fur that remains extremely tight against their skin. Miniature pinschers are indeed toy dogs, but are sporty both in appearance and behavior. They have well-proportioned physiques, with dense and solidly built looks. Their walking style is also noteworthy, reminiscent of a trot with elevated steps.
Beyond Just Physical Appearance
-
Although miniature pinschers are undeniably adorable, their outside appearance is far from the only thing that defines them. Pure miniature pinschers are considered intelligent, brisk and self-assured animals. They often display strong watchdog tendencies. When they sense the presence of an unknown on their turf, they frequently bark -- a lot. They are highly vigilant in nature. In the company of new people, they often behave in an aloof and careful manner. They don't immediately open up to newbies, but at the same time, it usually doesn't take them too long to do so once they feel comfortable. Because of their instinct to go after rats, they sometimes run after little critters, so take note. When in the company of fellow dogs, they often act assertively. Always closely supervise the interactions between miniature pinschers and any other animals.
