Where do yorkie terriers come from?

The Yorkshire Terrier originated in the county of Yorkshire, England, in the mid-1800s. It was developed by the working class in the area to catch rats in the coalmines and mills, and was bred from a variety of terriers, including the Skye Terrier, Paisley Terrier, and Clydesdale Terrier. This breed was also popular among the wealthy and fashionable, and Queen Victoria was a fan. The Yorkshire Terrier was brought to the United States in the late 1800s and quickly became a popular companion dog.
