Things You'll Need
- Slicker brush
- Comb
Instructions
Obtain a slicker brush. Pin brushes, while ideal for brushing other dogs, can make a wheaten terrier's coat frizzy.
Brush the hair on the terrier's front legs. Run the brush downward over the coat, coaxing the hair to fall downward toward the feet. Repeat this downward brushing on the rear legs as well.
Carefully brush the wheaten terrier's belly. This area can be sensitive, so do not push too hard. Pay extra attention at the area where the legs meet the body, as the coat can easily become matted.
Focus on the wheaten terrier's body. Brush from head to tail.
Revisit any particularly knotted or matted areas of hair with a comb. A fine toothed comb helps untangle the knots.
Brush or comb the wheaten terrier's face. Brush the facial hair toward the side of the face, then down, creating what looks like a little beard.
