How to Groom a Miniature Pinscher

The Miniature Pinscher (Min Pin) is a breed of dog that requires very little maintenance. Based on this fact, the breed is ideal in homes with older people and/or children. The short glossy coat of the dog requires brushing on a regular basis but only needs to be washed every three or four months. Ear care is a key concern and the ears of the Miniature Pinscher should be washed once per week.

Clip the nails of the Miniature Pinscher with scissor-type nail clippers carefully and avoid cutting the quick. Maintain the nails of the dog once per month.

    • 4

Wash the dog with shampoo rated for dogs and warm water. Rinse completely. Allow the dog to air dry or use a towel to dry the dog.

    • 5

Trim the dog's facial hair and whiskers. Remove any hair that is over the eyes that could impede the vision of the dog.

    • 6

Rub a lanolin-based coat conditioner into the coat of the dog to keep the dog's coat soft and shiny. Go over the coat with a chamois to make it as shiny as possible.
