Instructions

    • 1

Brush the coat of the Jack Russell. Use a currycomb or a dense, short metal comb suitable for getting through the thick and wiry hair of the Jack Russell. Remove all knots from the dog's coat before bathing so you will be able to get to the skin for a thorough cleansing.

    • 2

Fill a bathtub or basin with lukewarm water. Add two to three capfuls of baby shampoo or dog shampoo designed for short and wiry hair. Stir the soap through the water to evenly distribute.

    • 3

Wash the dog using a firm but gentle touch. Work both of your hands in small circles making sure to scrub the dog's hair and skin. Wash behind ears, legs and around the tail. Continue washing until the dog has lathered soap visible on all areas covered with hair.

    • 4

Remove the dog from the soapy water and rinse him using lukewarm water. Try to bathe the dog outdoors, because a Jack Russell, being an outdoor, sporting dog, will have a natural tendency to shake the water off. Allow the dog to shake off excess water.

    • 5

Dry the dog using a towel and rub the towel over all fur using a circular motion. Use a firm yet gentle motion to penetrate through the thick fur of the Jack Russell. Allow the dog to air dry until all fur is completely dry before combing or brushing.
